Jeff Tooth has been busking in Campbelltown for years. Then late last year he was told to stop. Jeff lives with a disability and shared on radio that he was fined $220 for busking in Campbelltown. Council Rangers informed Jeff that busking was under review.
He has tried to busk since then but is moved on by Rangers and Police. Then last month he copped a fine for busking near the tunnel at the Campbelltown Railway Station. Jeff still busks but at a shopping centre where he pays rent for the privilege.
Our friends at “Beautiful Minds” (mental health charity) who know Jeff have jumped to the rescue and will reimburse him the $220. It’s ironic that the only sanity in this whole fiasco comes from a mental health charity.
I would like to ask our Campbelltown Councillors to review this and lift the ban immediately. It’s not as if the city has been plagued by buskers. In fact, it would be great if it was.
